Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, also known professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October of 2016, Ari Lennox released her Pho EP. The EP was where she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out in May 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music on the internet in 2012, when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her own single Bound along with her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. The song Sweat it included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21, 2015. J. Cole was interested in her talent and wanted to work with Rihanna. The 8th of December was the day she confirmed that she had been contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she recorded together with Cozz for the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. Her Pho EP was released on her debut EP, on October 21 in 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing as part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening performance. In 2018, she appeared on two songs alongside her labelmates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 she released her debut single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video was also released on September 5th. The second single she released was called Grampa on the 9th of November. In November 2013 she dropped No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made appearances as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this track as a single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. On February 20, 2019, a music clip was released to promote the song. It already has more than 3 million hits on YouTube within its first week. She supported the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of the year 2018.
